Filippo Marchesani è ricercatore e professore presso il Dipartimento di Economia Aziendale dell’Università “G. d’Annunzio” di Chieti-Pescara, dove insegna Management of Innovation e Digital Consumer Behaviour. Ha conseguito un Dottorato di Ricerca in Accounting, Management and Business Economics nel 2022 e i suoi interessi scientifici riguardano la competitività urbana, le smart city, il turismo intelligente, l’innovazione, il marketing e l’imprenditorialità.

Su questi temi ha presentato e contribuito come presentatore e track chair a numerose conferenze internazionali di management. Dal 2017, la sua attività accademica internazionale include programmi di studio e periodi di research visiting presso università estere, tra cui un semestre presso la University of Alabama (2017) negli Stati Uniti, l’Universitat de Girona (2022, 2024 e 2025) e l’Universidad de Málaga (2025) in Spagna. Svolge inoltre attività di docenza internazionale presso la South Champagne Business School di Troyes (Francia), all’interno della sezione internazionale del corso di International Business Management.

È membro dell’Editorial Board di Springer Nature Business & Economics, revisore per diverse riviste scientifiche internazionali ed inserito nell'Albo degli Esperti ANVURin qualità di Revisore Esterno per la VQR. Ha recentemente pubblicato su riviste di primo piano a livello mondiale, tra cui Tourism Management (ABS4), Technovation (ABS3), Entrepreneurship & Regional Development (ABS3), Business Strategy and the Environment (ABS3), International Marketing Review (ABS3), Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development (ABS2), Technological Forecasting and Social Change (ABS3), Cities (ABS2), Journal of Cleaner Production (ABS2), Current Issues in Tourism (ABS2), International Journal of Tourism Cities, Rivista di Politica Economica tra le altre. 

Ha inoltre pubblicato il libro "The Global Smart City: Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Age" con Emerald Publishing nel 2023 e contribuito a diverse opere per Elsevier.
